CUSTOMS FORMALITIES FOR MOVING TO THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

Documents Required (submitted/signed by customer)

  • Copy of residential/working Visa.
  • Passport copy with valid UAE residence visa stamped.
  • Authorization letter to moving company for clearance and collection of documents from shipping / airline.
  • Authorization letter addressed to the shipping line for release of delivery.




Documents Required (to be completed/arranged by GB Liners)

  • Inventory of the goods in English.  (Do not use the terms “Miscellaneous” or “Contents unknown”.)
  • Ocean Bill of Lading/Air Waybill (AWB).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON MOVING TO THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

Importation is allowed provided the shipment consists of personal effects and used household goods only. All used personal effects and household goods are exempted of duty.

Brand new items will attract Custom duty at 5% of the invoice value. If the invoice is not provided for the same items, Custom Inspectors will assess a value for the same and on the assessed value 5% will be levied as Customs duty. 5% VAT on the duty amount plus processing charges. If the original invoice is missing for brand new item, then a fee of USD 300. I.e. invoice or packing list.

UAE residence visa stamped on the passport is compulsory for Custom clearance and to get delivery order from shipping line.
