ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON MOVING TO AUSTRALIA

Duty free if removal goods consist of used household effects which have been in the owner’s use and possession abroad for at least one year, and which will keep on being used by the owner in the new residence.

All household and personal effects entering Australia are subject to a physical examination by the Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment (DoAWE). This examination is conducted at DoAWE approved premises and will cause delays of up to 14 working days after the arrival of the consignment into Australia. The Quarantine examination also means that full containers cannot be delivered direct to the importer’s residence in Australia.
