A Direct Removal from Herefordshire to Devon

16th March, 2026

Following many difficult years, read how our customers, who chose a direct move from Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire to Dartmouth, South Devon, enthuse over the service they received during their recent home move. Having had six years of hardship caring/supporting five family members and sadly losing seven important people in their lives, the couple moving, who had faced serious illness themselves, were ready for a new adventure somewhere they liked that was totally new to them.

Moving Challenges

Life is never simple and the move to Dartmouth happened when the customer’s purchase fell through at the last minute which resulted in the destination changing very suddenly. This meant that the carefully planned relocation became a more stressful scenario for the customer. GB Liners easily adapted to the alterations and were happy to assist the customer as they steered a new course.

Packing and Service Requirements

A full packing service was required with two trucks. As there was difficult access at collection, a smaller vehicle was also used to tranship. In addition, a collection was required from a self storage facility near Ross-on-Wye and at the delivery address there was a delivery to be made to another self storage facility. With a full packing service, household furniture and fittings to transport, beds and a clock to dismantle and reassemble and large pots to move, the removal required a team for four days.

Moving in the depth of winter was never going to be predictable and in this instance packing was completed in sunny but sub-zero conditions with Storm Goretti lashing and blowing. It was a long trip for the drivers of the two lorries with an unexpected ferry ride at Dartmouth! They had to unload in hours of torrential rain finding refuge in the cab of their van for an overnight ‘sleep’ during hurricane force wind.

Further pressure was the fact that the rented house was far smaller than the original property so finding new locations for furniture was challenging. However, the customer describes our removals coordinators, Grant and Marcus, as “completely unflappable, amazing!”

The Outcome

To quote the customer: “Everyone was fantastic, and we are so grateful to GB Liners for making our move as easy as possible when everything seemed depressing. The cheerful manner of your teams helped us to cope with a rubbish situation.”

“The performance of the Hereford team was absolutely outstanding in every regard. It was an awkward, even difficult operation at both ends, involving shuttling our stuff due to no lorry access, getting goods out of, then into storage, and finally moving in by the coast during Storm Goretti! However, Grant was a brilliant foreman and it all went incredibly well thanks to his leadership and organisation, together with the way he flexed the plans a couple of times as we went along.”

“Every member of Grant’s team was so professional, cheerful and polite and we felt we were in the hands of experts from the first moment. It was patently obvious that they were highly trained and ready to take very good care of our belongings, even of the worthless odds and ends that we all treasure for sentimental reasons. Everything arrived safely.”

David, the surveyor, gave the same confidence in the manner of his initial quotation survey at the house, and this informed our choice. Emma, the organiser in the office was endlessly patient and efficient, and she put together an operation that went as planned across the whole week. We have moved house many, many times using a variety of removals firms and GB Liners outshone them all. Brilliant. Faultless. Five stars is not enough.”

Having been through some confronting experiences in recent years, long may this positivity continue in their new location.
